I’m writing another book!

Great news! I’ve just signed a contract with Broadleaf Books to write the tentatively titled “Unapologetic: a queer Quaker approach to the Bible.” I’m beyond thrilled.

“Unapologetic” will act as a doorway for everyone who both loves queer people and is drawn to Jesus and the Bible. I hope to offer an approach to the Bible grounded in both queer experience and Quaker wisdom. This approach does not play by the idolatrous rules of queerphobic Christian fundamentalism. I will present the Bible as a rich, varied and important theological resource that is best interpreted from the margins, by those people who are pushed out from the centre and made queer.

This will be the book I needed 20 years ago. The estimated publishing date is still a while away, and is currently set for the autumn of 2027. That’s a good thing, as I’ve got a lot of the manuscript still to write! It will also be my longest book to date, at around 40,000 words.

I’ll keep you updated as the book progresses. Thanks for reading and sharing in my excitement!

  1. This is fantastic Mark! Many congratulations. Can’t wait to read your book. I’ve just finished reading the recently published Queer Christian: Reclaiming the Bible, Our Faith, and Our Place at the Table by Brandan Robertson which I found great – powerful, encouraging and affirming. There cannot be enough books on this subject imho!

  2. Brilliant news, Mark!

So pleased for you and it will be such an important book, I know!

    In peace

    Anne
